Lilo & Stitch Christian Review
To tell you the truth, this 2025 live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch feels made from the heart, friend. I mean, I do have to salute that pure nostalgia for the original animation, but this time there is a different realness and emotional depth in the story. The biggest focus is on family, grief, and that feeling of belongingness—which is so important in life, and that too in a slightly more grounded and emotional style.

There are slightly different scenes at the beginning of the film itself. Lilo’s grief, her loneliness which happens after the loss of her parents, has been shown absolutely raw. Meaning, if you have ever felt alone or experienced a loss, you will be able to understand that pain from your heart. And if you look at it from a Christian perspective, you remember Psalm 68:6 – “God sets the lonely in families.” In the movie, family are not just friends, they become a symbol of love, acceptance, and grace.
Now talking about Stitch, that old mischievous and crazy energy is still there. The CGI is also amazing, it looks so real that it seems as if Stitch is really standing in front of you. But the biggest twist is his transformation – the journey from a reckless alien to a loyal friend. This story seems like that of a prodigal son, in which the meaning of grace and forgiveness is explained. Lilo’s journey aligns perfectly with Christian teachings.

The girl who is playing the role of Lilo is amazing. She shows pain as well as strength; it seems as if a girl is surviving in her broken world. Her chemistry seems absolutely genuine with Stitch, because that is the heart of the story. Nani, who is the elder sister and guardian, her vulnerability is shown a little and deep. Her struggles seem relatable—handling the responsibility of the family, the burden of being a guardian.
There is just one small issue in the pacing—meaning the energy is a little less as compared to the original animation. That’s why little kids might get a little bored. Sometimes the jokes seem a little strange and the transitions from emotional to light moments are a little awkward, due to which the flow gets broken a little.
But talking about parental guidance, the rating is PG—there is mild action, some peril and emotional themes. There are alien chases, comic violence, heavy emotional moments of grief and family conflicts. There is no inappropriate language, sex or substance. But if the emotional intensity had been a little more, then little kids would have understood it more. But it is also an opportunity for parents to have meaningful discussions—about love, loss, healing.

Overall, this remake seems like a sincere effort, made from the heart, that honors the original while also bringing in new elements. The themes of family, belonging, and redemption connect for both Christians and the general audience. If you want a lighthearted movie, this may seem a little different, but if you like heartfelt and spiritual undertones, it is definitely worth watching.
My rating: 4/5 stars – A great film for its emotional depth, visuals, and timeless message. Just pay a little attention to the pacing and humor.
If you want a story that presents the spiritual themes of family and grace well, then this Lilo & Stitch remake is a solid choice. Watch it carefully, it will steal your heart!
