Game of Power Christian Review

Okay, so the plot of Game of Power looks quite interesting. A journalist investigates a suspicious sale at a local bar, and that investigation takes him into a whole other world—political corruption, murder, and a complex web of secrets. Meaning, drama, mystery, everything! But this show can get a little tricky, especially if we watch it from a Christian perspective.

First of all, the theme of corruption and justice seemed right. Just as we Christians are taught to always stand with the truth and stand against injustice—(this reminds me of Micah 6:8). The mission of a journalist completely aligns with our moral compass. We all love it when someone exposes dark secrets and fights for the truth. If this plot is shown well, it can really give a powerful message.

But this strip club angle? Yes, it gets a little complicated. Look, this dark world that is being shown in the show makes the drama a little edgy, but there is a responsibility with it too. As Christians, it is important for us to understand how these places are portrayed. Is the show just using it for shock value, or is it really showing how harmful these places are? If it is showing that these places are exploitative, that is fine. If it is just used as a plot device, then that could be a little problematic.

Then that is the murder mystery part. Murder mysteries have their own fun, right? Everyone likes it when there is a thriller type plot and everyone gets excited to know “who did it?” But this too is a slippery slope. If violence is shown only for shock value, without any deeper meaning, then that plot can be quite superficial. When we depict crime, we have to be a little sensitive-life is precious, and the impact of a murder should not be shown just to give it an “edge”. If the show genuinely explores this aspect, only then will it have an impact.

If the element of redemption is shown in the show, then it will be something else. Meaning, if the journalist understands that he is not just exposing corruption but also making himself a part of a changed system, then he will have a depth of his own. This can give a positive moral turn to the show, which will inspire all of us. But it all depends on which direction the show goes.

So the final conclusion, Game of Power has a lot of potential, but there are still some red flags. If he handles the themes well, especially shows the strip club and murder mystery in a responsible way, then it can definitely be worth watching. If he is just sensationalizing, then he may fail a bit.

I think it is absolutely right to give it 3/5. It is promising, but does not seem as clean as expected. It remains to be seen how all this unfolds.
