Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 Christian Review

Having to walk back in the neon nightmare of Freddy Fazbears Pizza is like visiting a place that your soul has already warned you against. Five Nights at Freddys 2 is not an attempt to conceal its nature it is unpleasant, distressing, and full of the kind of darkness, which is very close to the boundary between the real and the spiritual. I was watching this and couldnt stop thinking about what Paul says in Ephesians 6:12: For we wrestle not against flesh and blood Although this film glamorizes evil by giving it a metallic and wired appearance, the terror it evokes, nevertheless, is the one that resides deep inside.
The plot expands this time – more victims, more ghosts of the past, more pressure on the living ones who are trying to last the night. Guilt, responsibility, and buried sins are the themes that surge from the depths. Not a single person in this world consults God for wisdom, and that void itself is like another character. It is almost tangible how different everything could be if someone simply uttered, Lord, deliver us from evil.
The movie, to be honest, is a very gloomy place. There is dread, but no hope. There is suffering, but no Savior. The evil takes the liberty to roam around because there is no one to confront it with the truth. However, the Bible states that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it (John 1:5). Although the light is hardly visible in the FNAF world.
From a moral perspective, the film is in gray zone. The characters do show some bravery, some sacrificial naturebut its very little, on the spot, instinctive and for the sake of survival. There is nothing that directs the characters toward God. Nothing stimulates the heart to turn to righteousness. It is all about fighting or running away.
Is this suitable for children? Definitely not. The horror sequences, jump scares, and the focus on death make it a good choice of the movie for only mature audiences. But, it can work as a reminder for adults to realize that evil doesnt become less real just because we pretend its not there. And as believers, we are aware that the only safe haven is with the One who said, Do not be afraid, for I am with you (Isaiah 41:10).
