Endless Cookie Christian Review

Endless Cookie could be the kind of film that you would expect to be a sugar-coated comedy, but it actually has a surprisingly tender little heart beneath its quirky setup. The film traces a character who is in a bizarre loop of his lifeevery day is a repeat, his every mistake is replayed, and he is given every chance of goodness again and again. In case you dont know, this isnt the first time that God has used loopsHe did that in the Book of Jonah and the forty years journey of Israelites in the desert, too.
Repeated days revealing the condition of our soul is an idea that comes from the Bible. One of the biblical verses is Lamentations 3:23 where Gods mercies are new every morning are mentioned. The movie turns that into a weird reflection – what if your morning is new only because you didnt learn from yesterday? What if grace keeps coming, not as a relief, but as a push toward repentance, humility, and becoming changed?
At first trial, the protagonist of Endless Cookie doesnt have a clue what to do. He plots, takes shortcuts, mopesacting like any of us would do when we are confronted with a truth we dont want to accept. But, over time, the plot moves towards character development. The selfishness is being replaced by small acts of kindness. The thoughtfulness is gaining ground over the chaos. In a way, it is similar to Ephesians 4:2224, in which Paul directs the believers to put off the old self and put on the new self. This film illustrates that transition in a funny, sometimes chaotic manner.
The degree of family-friendliness is okay, though there are some jokes that are a bit too rowdynothing thats over the top, but parents should be cautious. Its morality is predominantly positive, presenting a redemptive arc instead of a cheap cynical one.
Faith references being non-explicit, spiritually, the theme being very obvious: change doesnt come all at once. Instead, it comes through numerous small decisions, one sunrise after another.
Endless Cookie is a nice, sometimes dumb, but in the end, heartfelta very suitable reminder that grace is still at work even when you are stuck in lifes loops.
