Clown in a Cornfield Christian Review

So, Clown in a Cornfield is coming up ahead, and from what we know about it so far, it looks like it will be either a little or a lot traumatizing. The movie depicts Quinn and her father moving to Kettle Springs only to discover that the town’s creepy past materializes as a killer clown, Frendo, a very exaggerated character. It’s a slasher format — lots of violence, fear, and supernatural elements.

For Christians, there is certainly some discomfort here. The themes of revenge, avenging spirits, and dark violence are hard to ignore, and they will raise some red flags for anyone that is against supernatural horrors. Well, we know from the Bible that Vengeance is the Lord’s (Romans 1219), and this is something that the movie does in a couple of dark ways. Either way, the movie does have strong family themes. Quinn and her dad have a strong relationship, which seems to be a great homage to how important family is, which is in line with (1 Timothy 58).

All of this to say, it is going to be a heavy film. It’s not for everyone, especially if one finds supernatural elements and violent cruelty disturbing. But, at least it looks to bring some excitement and a shred of redemption. Still, if you are a lover of Slasher movies and you can handle the violence, it could be a compelling watch. As always, keep an open heart.
