King Ivory Christian Review

King Ivory (2025) is not a crime drama of the usual kind – it’s a brutally honest, unvarnished, and stark portrayal of the fentanyl epidemic that has devastated society in general and the most vulnerable strata in particular. The film, based on real research of law enforcement officials and addicts, is a raw ordeal, and often it is difficult to make out, but under all the dirt and the blood, it conveys a very urgent message about the human soul when it goes astray from God’s way.

The film does not present holy people or preach. What it does give is honesty — the broken countenances of addicts, the ethical decay of avarice, and the profound, desolate void of despair. It resembles the Book of Judges visually:
“Each did what was right in his own eyes.”
The outcome of this is disorder — spiritual, emotional, societal.

Faith and spirituality are present discreetly here, but their absence speaks even more than words. When the scene turns dark, you wish for the light. That longing — that desire for salvation — is what imparts to King Ivory its peculiar, sorrowful power.

In a few characters, there are moments of conscience — those who realize the harm caused by drugs and in a very slight manner, yet, they try to resist. However, there is no spotless rescue, no obvious triumph. The movie ends in this way leaving you feeling uneasy, but at the same time realizing that sin always devastates the things it envelops.

King Ivory is like the modern world – a warning that without Jesus, we will all succumb to some kind of addiction. The only real remedy for death is
grace.
