Witchboard Christian Review
The mood of Witchboard (2024) begins in an old, wet, slightly sticky alleyway of New Orleans… where even the wind seems to be pulling stories along with it. Jessie and Gabe start a new life. While renovating an old-style restaurant, one day they find an antique spirit board. At first it just seems strange… a little thrill, a little fun. But slowly the fun starts to set in… the color of the wind starts changing. Lights start flickering, doors start shaking, things start shifting… and the fear is not just of a ghost. It seems as if some unknown hand is sowing some strange seed between these two. And the deeper we dig, the darker it becomes – then we understand that this board was a part of some old occult ritual… which has already started, and now no one wants to stop it.

If seen through the lens of faith, this is a direct warning sign. The Bible is very clear—playing with spirits, dabbling in supernatural things, all of this is outside of God’s authority (Deuteronomy 18:10–12, Leviticus 19:31). And the truth is, it’s never “harmless fun.” Because once that door is opened, a storm of deception comes without knocking. The story of Jessie and Gabe is such a brilliant example—it starts with curiosity and ends with a total nightmare. This is the enemy’s style—enveloping a gift of mystery and trapping you inside.
And yes, this is not just a story about a haunted board… there is a hidden spiritual war going on—fought not with flesh and blood but with the forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). The hostile entity of the witchboard is not just a ghost on a screen but a real symbol—of the powers that break, drop, and freeze. In the end the choice seems simple but heavy—break the board and risk your dream… or keep the board and risk your life. The Bible’s stance is straight—the price of obedience can be high, but it is the right path.

Frightening moments? Very. Some scenes even penetrate deep inside. But a reality also comes into view—boundaries are real. There is no such thing as a “safe game” with the occult. Want guidance? Want power? The safest place is God’s presence. The bill for searching for answers in the shadows is always expensive.
For the mature Christian audience, this is not just a horror film, it is a reminder—coming out from under God’s covering is not just a small risk, it is a ticket to a huge downfall. And in the end, it is simple—some doors must always remain closed. When evil is in front of you, there is only one safe place—Christ.
