Shoshana Christian Review
Shoshana.
Just hearing the name feels strange… like an old memory, vague, which slightly lingers. And as soon as the film starts, one immediately understands that this is not a soft, romantic story. This is a picture of a place where every street, every corner, every heart… was a battlefield of some kind of conflict. British-ruled Palestine. On one side colonial oppression, on the other side the fire of nationalism. And in between… a human being, who is being pulled from both sides.
Shoshana Borochov—she is completely fire. Zionist, who is ready to sacrifice her life for Haganah. And Tom Wilkin- British officer. Apart from the pressure of duty, the heart is also running away somewhere else. A connection is formed between the two, but this love is not dreamy or filmy. This love is absolutely raw, fragile. It feels as if it will break at any time. And as much as there is chemistry, there is also that constant realization- that it is not safe. This love has also become a battlefield.

If seen through the lens of faith, the film shows a bitter truth- true love does not exist only in times of peace. Matthew 5:9 rings in the mind—“Blessed are the peacemakers…” But when there is lies, hatred, and injustice all around… who will become a peacemaker?
There is no sugarcoat in this movie. There are assassinations, betrayals, and a raw emotional mess. When revenge wears the mask of grace… one forgets what the real face was. Romans 12:19 screams from behind—“Vengeance is mine, says the Lord.” But here everyone considers themselves God. Everyone has created their own version of justice.
Shoshana’s character—uff. The most intense. You can’t even judge her journey from being an activist to a militant. You just get confused. Sometimes you feel, is the violence justified if the cause is “right”? Can resistance ever become obedience? These very questions have been asked since the time of the early church. The film does not give any answer. It just holds a mirror – see for yourself brother.

If we talk about the visuals… dangerous. Completely of the 1930s feel. The texture like archive footage, the costumes, the set design – everything seems so authentic that it does not seem that you are sitting in 2025. But if you are a believer, then this is the warning – this film will shake you. Not just because of what is shown… but because of what is made you feel. When Shoshana leaves the path of peace, something falls on the heart. The weight of expectation becomes lighter.
And if you are among those people who don’t just watch films… but feel… then Shoshana is made for you. Just take the discernment with you. Because this story is not black or white. It is just grey. And only this grey tells us where real peace is found – sometimes only between grace and truth.
So yes, Shoshana is worth watching. But take a small prayer with the popcorn. Because the film doesn’t just ask what you are feeling… it also asks- when everything is falling apart, which way are you?
Love? Justice? Or just your protection?
