Crawlers Christian Review

Crawlers… This is a horror-thriller that gives off full old-school alien invasion vibes, but with a little Gen Z swag. The setup is pure St. Patrick’s Day night, with a full-on party going on at a college campus—meaning dance, music, drinks… everything. And then suddenly everything starts going upside-down. People suddenly stop behaving—because brother, the alien parasites have taken over their bodies. Slimy, creepy creatures that enter inside humans without any warning. Like stealing someone else’s body.

Now if you look at this from a Christian lens… it is a little fun, a little warning too, but spiritual depth? No, you don’t get that feeling here. The story revolves more around identity, trust and deception. Who is yours and who is under someone else’s control—it is not known. If you look at it from one angle, it seems like those verses in the Bible where it is said to be spiritually alert (1 Peter 5:8, 1 John 4:1), the same vibe has come here in the form of aliens. Body-snatching, glowing eyes, and weird transformations—all that jazz. But if you think about it metaphorically… this could also be a visual of a corrupted heart or a spiritual invasion.

But to be honest, the film has a lot of crude humor. There is a lot of swearing, underage drinking, drugs, and sexual innuendos. The characters are messed up, and their decision-making is mostly driven by fear and panic, not any moral courage or sacrificial love. The basic Christian themes—redemption, hope, transformation—none of these are found here. The film also ends with a message, “Just survive, that’s enough.” The overall tone is a little cynical, a little dark.

I definitely liked one thing—the film subtly shows that one should not judge people by just seeing or hearing. Unless the characters trust each other, the alien invasion is not possible. So this may be a slight hint towards the biblical value of truth and fellowship (Ephesians 4:25). But this point is so underplayed that you can notice it only if you look carefully.

Talking about the rating—this is TV-MA. Meaning heavy content. Strong language, horror violence, sex talk, drugs—the whole thing is open. Not for kids at all, and adults should watch it only if their tolerance level is a little higher.

In the end? Crawlers is for those who like a little whacky horror-comedy mix. It is fast-paced, a little offbeat, and provides the fun of alien-like ecstasy. But if you are a Christian viewer looking for a redemptive or spiritually meaningful story – then sorry, this is not for you. You will not find anything here for the soul. If you want to watch it, watch it just for time-pass. Do not expect a deeper meaning.
